CALL FOR ENTRIES
In recent years we have noticed an overall decrease in the number of art galleries that require artists to have their work framed. The question of whether the artwork to be framed, or not to be framed, opens lines of thought and interpretations. The aim of this year’s PAWA Member’s Exhibition, 'Framed Unframed', is to create a conversation around the concept of ‘the frame’ in the gallery space.
I've always had quite a rebellious and contrary attitude. The more I feel I am being pushed into a mould, the more I feel like going in the opposite direction. – Mona Hatoum.
In the context of this exhibition, the idea of ‘the frame’ could be taken literally, but in saying that, it also opens up a multitude of possibilities for our members to re-imagine their previous ideas of ‘the frame’, either conceptually, structurally, graphically... the list goes on.
Framed Unframed will be held at Nyisztor Studio, 391 Canning Highway, Palmyra.
Artists can enter their work either framed or unframed.
Each artist has the option to submit two works, (a diptych will count as two works).
All artworks submitted must contain an element of hand-pulled printmaking practice.
Entry fee: $20 for one work
$25 for two works
Frames must be no larger or smaller than 50 cm. x 50 cm. to outer edge.
Unframed work must measure 50 cm. x 50 cm. to outer edge.
Submission for entries closes June 4, 2022.
