Create Your Own Home Print Studio (on a budget)
A Workshop for PAWA Members by Jane Button
In this workshop participants will have the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of different plates and cutting tools, and then print out their plate on a variety of different presses and papers. You will also learn tips for how to make your own drying rack, lino tool holder and roller holder. Jane will also demonstrate how to keep your tools sharp.
Equipment provided by Jane for experimentation will include:
Plates- Silkcut, Japanese Vinyl, Smooth Carve, Synthetic Linoleum, Scratch Foam,
Tools- Pfeil, Flexcut, Lee Valley, various Japanese tools from student to professional,
Presses- Sizzix Craft Press, Poppy Craft Adjustable Press, pasta press, micro press, Cold Press Laminator,
A wide range of printmaking papers and inks.
Jane will also discuss the best places to purchase these materials and equipment.
Suitable for both beginners wanting to learn a new medium and set up a home studio and also experienced artists wishing to extend their practice by the incorporation of new materials and equipment.
Jane Button is a printmaker and mixed media artist who works from her home studio in Wooroloo. She works in a wide range of printmaking techniques including drypoint, relief, rubber carving and image transfers. Jane enjoys experimenting with the various ways that the techniques can be combined, and her images are often then incorporated into small mixed media or 3D pieces.
Materials provided: Sample paper pack and plates.
Materials and equipment that will be in studio for you to use : inks, scrap paper, presses and various mini presses brought by Jane.
You are encouraged to bring any additional papers and/or any cutting tools you have and want to use. Bring some light lunch. Tea and coffee will be supplied.
